You may soon be able to enjoy an adult beverage along the streets of Downtown Naperville. The Naperville Liquor Commission is considering an ordinance that would allow qualifying restaurants to serve alcohol to customers dining on city property, like sidewalks. While commissioners were in support of the ordinance it will go back to staff for further review.
Multicultural Reading Night
Last night students got a trip around the world through the pages of books. District 204 hosted their Multicultural Reading Night at Still Middle School, which invited students and families to read books in about nine different languages including French, Arabic, Hindu and Sign Language. The night sets out to encourage diversity in the district.
St. Patrick’s Day in Naperville
Top of the morning to ya! This Saturday Naperville will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise St. Paddy’s 5k at 8 a.m. and the West Suburban Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 10 a.m. If you can’t make it out to the parade you can watch live on channel 17 and at nctv17.com.
New Athletic Director
Earlier this week, District 204 approved Branden Adkins as the new Neuqua Valley athletic director. Adkins has 22 years of coaching experience and will take over AD duties beginning July 1. Adkins currently serves as athletic director at Plainfield East, where he coached the boys basketball team, winning two regional and two conference championships. Prior to his time there, he served as athletic director at Glenbard North for one year. He will be replacing longtime athletic director Barb Barrows, who has been the Wildcats AD since the school opened in 1997. This fall, Neuqua Valley named its football field, Barbara J. Barrows Stadium.
