Park District Master Plan
Last night the public was invited to city hall to hear about what could be in store for the Naperville Park District’s 2018 master plan. Since a 2017 public survey, there has been demand for more nature trails, an exercise facility and an indoor pool. But what’s certain for the park district’s future is development at Southwest Community Park, new additions of pedal-assist electric bicycles on park trails, and more outposts for Naperville Kayak at the DuPage River Sports Complex.
Stray Cats Coming to Ribfest
Stray Cats is joining the 2018 Ribfest line-up. The rockabilly band is scheduled to perform on July 4. Tickets for Stray Cats go on sale March 14.
This weekend Naperville Public Safety will host the 14th annual St. Baldrick’s event in Naperville. The head-shaving benefit raises money for children’s cancer research and is being held at the Chicago Naperville Marriott at 6 p.m. tomorrow.
Water Polo Tournament
The season opening Naperville boys and girls water polo tournament begins today and continues through tomorrow morning. Neuqua Valley hosts the boys tournament while Naperville North welcomes the girls. All five of our local teams compete against each other throughout the weekend. The Naperville Central boys haven’t lost in this tournament since 2014 while the Central girls have also gone unblemished in the tourney the past two seasons. Both the boys and girls begin play at 4 this afternoon.
Remembering Bill McManus
And this week we said goodbye to a Naperville notable –Bill McManus. Bill lived in Naperville since 1972 and having served as president of the Naperville Noon Lions Club, he was instrumental in the development of the Naperville Turkey Trot. He was married to his wife Margaret for 58 years and the two have six children. Bill was 83 years old.
