Police Drunk Driving Arrests
The Naperville Police Department charged 22 people with DUIs in December 2017, double the number for December 2016. Police booked 15 people on DUI charges last month, compared to nine in January 2017. The NPD has been able to increase those arrest numbers due to receiving state law enforcement grants, which pay for more officers to be out during what are considered larger bar nights. Police did see an overall decrease in DUI arrests in 2017 at 213, compared to 295 in 2016.

The high school girls basketball season is pushing deeper into playoffs. Last night Benet Academy faced off against Argo High School in the Hinsdale South 4A Regional Final with the plaque on the line. Last year the Lady Redwings made it to the Super Sectional and they were not cutting their season short this year. The entire game was extremely aggressive, both teams only leading by a few points at a time until the sophomores on Benet decided to take the game into their own hands. Brook Schramek landed numerous three pointers helping her to 18 points on the night and right behind her was Kendall Holmes with 17 points. The Wings move on to play in sectionals on Tuesday night against either Simeon or Whitney Young.
