Narcan Numbers Released

 The DuPage County Sheriff’s Department has released their 2016 annual report on the DuPage County Narcan Program. Since its start in 2014, the number of people trained to administer Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal drug, has grown from 364 to over 3,000 participants. While the number of deaths has risen over the past three years, the number of saves has also increased, with 145 in 2016.

Silent Samaritan Breakfast

 This morning hundreds came out for the 10th annual Silent Samaritans breakfast put on by Samaritan Interfaith. The breakfast raises funds for women and children seeking mental health counseling. Also announced was Samaritan Interfaith’s new name, Samara Care, with the same principles and focus on counseling and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues.

John Oates to Naperville

John Oates of the famous Hall and Oates duo will visit Naperville on March 31st. Through a special Anderson’s Bookshop event, Oates will discuss his memoir Change of Seasons, sign copies of his book and perform a mini concert at North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall. Wrestling State Tournament

Best of luck to our local wrestlers representing their teams at the state tournament this weekend. Lucas Van Pouckey of Naperville North will be competing at 113 pounds for the second consecutive year. Sectional runner up at 145 pounds, Jake Keating will be going downstate for the third time for Naperville Central. His Redhawks teammate, Andy Nussbaum will be making his first state berth at 220 pounds as well. Waubonsie Valley’s Nick Sondag earned his spot at 220 pounds after finishing second at sectionals, while fellow Warrior Mason Krownig stamped his state ticket at 195 pounds with a third place sectional finish. The state meet begins tonight at the University of Illinois in Champaign.
