Hobson Oak Wood Available:

The historic Hobson Oak lives on through its wood, and a new supply of it will be available to artists this Saturday, February 16. The 250-year-old tree was taken down in 2016 due to decay, but its remnants have been used to make craft items for auction, as well as custom beers for fundraising. So far over $31,000 has been raised through these efforts by the Naperville Parks Foundation and their partners, and they’d love to see that number rise. Artists can come by Wehrli Furniture this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to noon if they’d like to pick up some wood to use to make a creation, which would then be donated for a future fundraiser to benefit a variety of not-for-profit agencies.

Local Dog at Westminster:

A soft coated wheaten terrier from Naperville competed at the 143rd Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Crawford won Best of Breed at the New York competition. A wire fox terrier named King took home Best in Show.

Upcoming Candidate Forums:

With the consolidated election just a month and a half away, the time for candidate forums is now – and Naperville has a number of them. Tonight at 7 p.m. the District 203 school board candidates will appear at the Naperville Municipal Center in a forum sponsored by the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation. That group has already hosted candidates running for mayor, and has upcoming forums for District 204 candidates on February 26, and city council candidates on February 28. The Indian Community Outreach will host another forum for city council candidates on March 9. NCTV17 will be taping these forums in their entirety and streaming them on our website after the event. You can find a list of additional forums on Positively Naperville’s website.

Jaycees Park Completed By Memorial Day:

Jaycees Park is on track to be finished by Memorial Day. The outdoor smart park will be located next to the municipal center, and will provide amenities like public Wi-Fi, USB ports and charging stations to make working outside a breeze. Commemorative bricks are still available for purchase at a discounted price through March 31 on the Naperville Jaycees website.
