Immigration Discussion

Congressman Bill Foster hosted a discussion this morning about the recent executive order that would restrict refugees and ban citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States. Joined by community members from the Islamic Center of Naperville, students and immigrants, the discussion focused on how these orders have provoked fear within the Muslim community and impacted their lives.

Suspect Sought

The Naperville Police Department is seeking information about a man who robbed the Fifth Third Bank at 1311 Ridgeland Avenue Saturday morning. The man presented a note to a teller demanding money and fled the scene prior to police arrival. No one was injured in the incident. If you have information about the identity of the subject, contact the Naperville Police Department and ask for the Investigations Division.

Chocolate Walk

This weekend proved to be sweet one for 360 Youth Services. Roughly $18,000 was collected through their second annual Chocolate Walk, a fundraiser for the organization that invites people to explore downtown Naperville and collect sweet treats and goodies along the way.

Neuqua Valley Hall of Fame

Neuqua Valley inducted its second class to the school’s athletic Hall of Fame Saturday night. Returning home was the 2003 state champion boys soccer team, State champion swimmer Melissa Marik, record breaking cross country runner, Chris Derrick, and Kathy Birkett, the first principal in Neuqua’s history. Melissa Marik went on to become an All American swimmer at Auburn while Chris Derrick was an All-American at Stanford as well as a U.S Cross Country champion.
