Baby New Year!:
It was a Happy New Year indeed at Edward Hospital with the arrival of William Paul Healy – the hospital’s first baby born in 2019. William was welcomed by his parents, Angela Antonou and Robert Healy, at 6:35 a.m. on January 1. He weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces, measured in at 20 inches, and is the Plainfield couple’s first child.
Safer Naper Year 2:
After the successful first year of A Safer Naper, the Naperville Police Department is continuing the community campaign in 2019. This month “Resolve to be Safer” will be the theme, when police officers will share on social media what their resolutions and tips are to be safer in the New Year. Expect future months to feature safety tips, community presentations, and social media posts with advice on lock it or lose it, domestic violence, tax fraud awareness, and much more.
Neuqua Senior Wins Video Contest:
A Neuqua Valley High School senior has won this fall’s teen distracted driving video contest, sponsored by AAA Chicago and the Naperville Police Department. Megan Kosak’s video encourages teens to put the phone down and focus on the road. Her win earns her a $750 scholarship, and her video is being shown at Naperville-area movie theaters over winter break.
Outdoor Hockey at Bobby Hull:
Just like the Chicago Blackhawks yesterday, a pair of local hockey teams had a chance to play in the great outdoors over the weekend at the Bobby Hull outdoor rink. Battling athe bright sunshine, Neuqua Valley started the day off with a 3-2 win over Illinois West rival Oak Park River Forest. In the very next game, Naperville North got off to a red-hot start, scoring three goals in the first period. The Huskies added two more throughout the game and held on for a 5 to 3 victory over Sandburg. If you’d like to see more outdoor hockey, Naperville Central and Waubonsie Valley will brave the elements for a game tomorrow night at the Bobby Hull rink starting at 8:15 p.m.
