It was a night of sadness and healing in Naperville as the community came together to remember two children who’s lives were cut tragically short. The vigil took place at St. Thomas the Apostle Church where community members had the chance to pray and release balloons to honor the children.
The tragedy took place just days ago in a Naperville home where Elizbieta Polackowska allegedly murdered her own son, seven year old Justin Plackowska and five year old, Olivia Dworakowski, who she was babysitting at the time.
Classmates had the chance to remember their friends. Anya Bhmani remembers Olivia as a very nice girl who liked the color pink. They also had the chance to grieve in a supportive environment. The children say they learned it’s ok to be sad and cry.
Mayor Pradel was also in attendance where he stressed the unity of Naperville as the key to coping with the loss.
It will take time for Naperville to heal from this tragedy, but together as a community they can remember the lives of the children who touched the hearts of so many.
