It was the perfect night to sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of summer, and around here that means tunes from the Naperville Municipal Band.
“It’s an annual thing for us and we always love the first one and we’re always sad at the last one, and can’t wait for the first one again,” said Tom Schoen, attendee to the band’s first concert.
Fans like Schoen gathered at Central Park for the first performance of the band’s summer concert series, with their inaugural concert titled “Climb on the Bandwagon.”
For 50 years the band has been conducted under the lead Director Ron Keller, whose been welcoming new members on that bandwagon since 1966.
“It went by awful fast, it seems like just yesterday I was doing the first concert, it’s been a long but very pleasurable experience working with this group of people,” said Ron Keller, Director and Conductor of the Naperville Municipal Band.
The Naperville Municipal Band is made up of about one hundred members and has been giving the town some tunes since 1859.
