As runners gear up for Sundays Healthy Driven Naperville Marathon and Half Marathon, students took their final lap in the first ever Kid’s Marathon.
Throughout the summer kids ages 5-13 ran or walked one mile 25 times.
“I did most of the days, but I actually did 1.5 miles almost everyday,” said runner, Aditi Roddom.
They finished their final 1.2 miles at Naperville North football stadium as fans cheered them on.
At the finish line, family, friends, and Mayor Steve Chirico showed their support and handed out medals to each of the runners.
“This is my first marathon that I actually ran on my own and I can’t believe it!” said runner, Stephen Dodson.
And after finishing their first marathon, they learned some things along the way.
“I learned that you don’t have to be an adult to run,” said Aiden Mattea.
“Running takes time,” said Athrov Jangra.
“The best thing I learned is you can do anything if you put your mind to it,” said Dodson.
