Movie lovers rejoice! The Naperville Independent Film Festival is back again.
The action takes place at Hollywood Palms beginning on September 10 and going through the 17, with shorts, features and documentaries all on the schedule.
“This is our ninth year, it’s an amazing year, I keep saying this every year. I don’t know how but the films continue to get better and better and better. We have great countries represented again all over the world, and they come here for a week to be shown at Hollywood Palms,” said Founder of the Naperville Independent Film Festival, Glessna Coisson.
The week wraps up with an awards show on Saturday September 17, with categories like Best Director, Best Student-Produced and for the first time chosen by festival goers, an Audience Choice winner.
“If you go to an independent film festival you’re seeing films that no one has seen before and some of them are very good, just because its independent doesn’t mean they’re not professional. So you never know what you’re going to see and sometimes these films are picked up so you end up seeing them in the theater maybe a year or two later, so you get to see them first,” said Marketing Director and Volunteer Coordinator for the Naperville Independent Film Festival, Mary Ellen Fieseler.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. For the first time the festival will extend into a second week, showing films at North Central College from the 18 to the 23.
