Naperville Central Teacher Gets a Big Grant

Announced during a surprise ceremony, Naperville Central social studies teacher Seth Brady is one of six educators from across the nation to receive a $100,000 grant from Famers Insurance through their 2016 Thank America’s Teachers Dream Big Challenge.

Brady’s proposal seeks to implement a comprehensive global economic education program across Illinois.

“We’re dealing in a world now where there’s large challenges and we need students especially, who are equipped to deal with these challenges. So really grateful, and thankful for and a little nervous about now, now we’ve got to do all this stuff,” Brady said.

These funds will help expand and enhance the Illinois Global Scholars program, which was unanimously approved by Illinois legislators in August and gives students with global competence a special seal on their transcript.

Naperville Central teacher, Randy Smith, who helped write the proposal was also recognized at the presentation. 

To win the grant, teachers submitted a proposal to Famers, and then the top choices were voted on throughout the month of October.
