Selected as one of 12 cities in the nation, Naperville was chosen to participate in Bloomberg Philanthropies’ “What Works City Initiative,” a philanthropic effort to enhance the use of data and evidence in the public sector.
Recently Naperville began weekly meetings to discuss their process toward innovation and efficiency.
“We’re going to be engaging the community in different ways, we’re going to have them weigh in on some of the stuff that we’re starting to develop here with our policies and what data they want to see, so it’s going to be transformational,” said Russell Rogers, I.T. Project Manager with the City of Naperville.
Some examples of tasks given to the group include identifying goals of the city, collecting data, and deciding how to best utilize that information.
Naperville was the first city in Illinois to be selected as a “What Works City.”
