At the latest Naperville Chamber of Commerce luncheon transportation was the topic of discussion.
Metra board member John Zediker spoke to the Chamber about how the transportation service came out of a time of turmoil to now providing transportation for 50% of the workforce in the loop.
Out of 26 Metra stations the local Route 59 station has the highest traffic, and the downtown Naperville station comes in second.
Zediker also mentioned how Metra stays current in a more technologically advanced world, by utilizing the Ventra app and making the internet more accessible to riders.
“If I can use it anyone can use it, it works quite well. You buy your ticket online, tell it where you want to go and show the conductor and you’re done. Likewise we’ve installed trial basis wifi in several trains and that’s actually working out well we’re trying to figure out how to pay for that as we have many challenges across the line,” said Zediker.
The Chamber will host a special luncheon on August 19th with Mark Kirk.
