The City of Naperville is providing a way for residents to be more aware when emergencies happen, such as severe weather, power outages, public safety announcements and road closures.
At a recent press conference they announced the launch of Naper Notify, a mass notification system.
“In any emergency event, it’s important to have a direct and efficient way to directly inform the public,” said Doug Krieger, City Manager. “In Naperville even the day to day activities of our city are important to our residents.”
There are two types of alerts, emergency and community notifications, like brush pick up or snow plowing.
Both residents and non-residents can sign up for the optional program at napernotify.com and receive notifications via phone, email, text or smart phone app.
Emergency messages will be sent 24/7 whereas non-emergencies between 6 am and 9pm.
