The DuPage Children’s Museum’s board of directors selected a new leader for the organization.
Sarah Orleans will assume the role of president and CEO, following the retirement of 22-year president Sue Broad.
“We’re particularly pleased with the caliber of the applicants and I think that was a testament to the reputation of the museum nationally and to what Sue Broad has brought here over the past 22 years,” said Cynthia Mark-Hummel, Director of Early Learning Research and Education at the DuPage Children’s Museum.
Orleans will relocate to the area from Portland, Oregon, where she was the executive director of the Portland Children’s Museum for eight years, helping it grow its attendance to 320,000 visitors annually.
“She has turned around the museum that had some significant financial issues,” said Lenore Johnson, The DuPage Children Museum’s Secretary for the Board of Directors. “She is focused on that early learning side and how research helps support a children’s museum.”
She’ll begin working at the museum in early March, at which time the museum’s also planning a meet and greet event.
