Naper Settlement and the DuPage Children’s Museum were two of 47 museums in the state to receive funding from the Illinois Public Museum Capital Grants program.
Just over $600,000 was awarded to the Settlement, which will be used to replace old electrical infrastructure throughout the museum’s campus.
“We are so excited about the grant and being able to replace the old electrical system and continue to be the place for the community to learn about our history,” said Vice President of Museum Services, Debbie Grinnell.
Over at the DuPage Children’s Museum, they plan on using the more than $240,000 awarded to them on a brand new exhibit.
The AWEsome Energy exhibit will take a hands- on approach to teaching kids how air, water, and electricity are used to produce energy.
The museum grants are part of Governor Quinn’s Illinois Jobs Now! program.
