For some, Mother’s Day is for thanking and appreciating. For others, it’s an opportunity to help a greater cause.
War Chest Boutique promoted shopping with a purpose for Mother’s Day by providing a station to make free hand-made cards.
A local patron adds, “every Mother’s Day, sine the store’s been open, I’ve come in to buy something for her from here.”
War Chest’s gifts are either made by or directly support at-risk and rescued women.
It’s not just the boutique… it’s Mother’s Day with a purpose all over town.
Over at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, money is being raised by its youth choir by selling flowers and plants this weekend.
Lynn Panosh, the youth choir director, says “the plants, the hanging plants, the pots, those are wonderful gifts for mothers. We have people coming through and buying the same thing every year to give to mothers. But also, in terms of the calendar, people want to plant their gardens. We’re done with winter and we want to get some color around our houses.”
With a goal of over $10,000, the funds from its sale will go toward purchasing a charter bus for the choir.
Whether it’s with cards, flowers, or a giving heart, all for mom on her special day.
