Cheryl Graham has always been an entrepreneur, and when she was looking for a new business venture, she wanted it to be something women could afford and use.
“I was looking on Facebook and I am always on Facebook and I saw this brush that straightened hair and I thought ‘Wow I need that because my hair is from here to across the world. So I thought that was a cool brush, I wonder if I can source it overseas and market it, because the original one was $300.00 and not even available,” said Graham.
After some research, Cheryl found a more affordable alternative, but she didn’t want to be in business alone this time around; so she enlisted her daughter Ashley, a junior in high school.
“I mean she knows everything about me and we work well together. It’s really different though because I have worked with my dad before and it was similar but there were other people there, but working with my mom is just a lot different,” Ashley said.
The mother-daughter team officially launched the brush in February after months of planning and branding; coming up with the name, packaging and where the product would be sold.
Now that the business is up and running they each divvy up the tasks to keep thing going smooth.
“I am in charge of emails, customer service and keeping the product stocked at amazon and researching new products for the future. My daughter is in charge of the social media, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter and Facebook. She also is in charge of all the videos that we do,” said Cheryl.
The combination is working – the Moxie Brush is doing well, and they are looking to expand the brand.
However the Graham girls still make it a point to keep their business partnership separate from their mom and daughter time.
“We have time when we work on the business and then family time and don’t really mix the two together, you just have to make sure you have time for both,” said Ashley.
