Everyone has a go-to drink, whether it be a basic brew or a complex cocktail. But today, we’re breaking down those cocktails so you know how to make them at home.
I headed over to meet Mixologist, Maurice Suarez at Wise Boxer. Suarez not only works at the bar, but he also owns FireWater Chef, a craft cocktail catering company for special occasions.
First up is a rum based drink called Meet Me at the Boxer.
“Add in vanilla rum with a dash of cinnamon liquor, a few dashes of orange bitters, a squirt of vanilla extra, and fresh pear juice. Shake it up real good and top it with a splash of soda water on top to liven it up a little bit and take the cinnamon and grate it on top. And you’re ready to go,” said Suarez.
Up next, The Cabernet Sour; to make this you’ll need to add in: your favorite whiskey or bourbon, bitters, agave nectar or simple syrup, fresh squeezes of lemon and lime and the twist, egg whites.
Shake it all together, strain it over ice, and then top it off with a cabernet floater.
For the last drink, I went behind the bar to test my own skills. I attempted Suarez’ newest concoction, a White Chocolate Cherry Martini. So we set up all the ingredients and got started.
This drink does turn pink, so it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day or any day you feel like making something sweet for your honey.
The topping is just a heavy whipping cream that’s been shaken over ice. And the finishing touch, dropping a cherry in as a garnish. This dessert martini should end up tasting like an adult cherry shake.
Well you now have everything you need to make these three drinks at home, or if you just don’t feel like doing it yourself, head over to wise boxer to test them out.
