Some local students earned their swords and became knights in shining armor. Crone Middle School recently held their annual Middle Ages Day.
Students voted for a knight, squire, and a lady from their Social Studies class based on their chivalry and braveness. The chosen students were honored at a knighting ceremony.
“We learned that each different knight got their own different sword,” said Rachel Lee, a sixth grader who was honored as a lady. “They had their own unique feature about it [and] their own colors”
Students also launched ball from catapults, which incorporated science and hands on learning.
“It ties into our Scientific Method in science,” said Science Teacher Matt Blaser. “They have to do trial and error to find out what the best method is for launching their object from the catapult and hitting their target.”
Middle Ages Day begins Crone’s unit on Medieval Times.
