Just months ahead of the presidential election the former Chairman of the Republican Party Michael Steele stopped by Benedictine University to talk politics. He addressed a crowded Kraza Center where he spoke frankly about the state of politics in our country.
Steele wants the candidates to take their campaigns down a better road. “Where it is now isn’t a good space for the American people,” he says.
He also mentioned that he doesn’t think the candidates are explaining themselves to the American people well enough. “I would like to see them at these debates come and lay out in very stark terms what the sacrifices as American citizens they expect us to make, what commitments they’re prepared to make as President of the United States, and how this country is going to look four years from now”
Steele also wants to hear a more positive and inclusive message coming from Mitt Romney. But, for Steele, the most important thing is getting out and making sure your voice is heard. He wants all Americans to get out and vote, to understand that their voices can change the political landscape.
