Naperville came together to celebrate Hanukkah.
The Mayor was on hand to light the menorah with Rabbi Mendi Goldstein of the Chabad Jewish Center. The menorah is outside along the Riverwalk.
Hanukkah is an ancient Jewish holiday that celebrates the rededication of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. A miracle allowed the lantern in the Temple to stay lit for eight days even though it only had enough oil for one day.
Observers light one candle each night of the eight day holiday, along with gift giving and meals with their families.
Hanukkah ends December 16th.
