A 2008 Neuqua Valley High School graduate shows fellow runners that with a little hard work you can “just do it.”
Chris Derrick recently came back to his hometown for the first time since signing with Nike back in October.
Dozens of fans came to the Naperville Running Company to get an autograph and take a run with the professional runner.
“These are just like my friends and my hometown so it’s very cool to be back here,” said Derrick. “Naperville Running Co. supported me all through high school. The goal from here on out is just to keep trying to make U.S. teams and hopefully have those be Olympic teams as well, and get better and better at the international level.”
Derrick finished fourth in the men’s 10,000-meter run at the Olympic trials, missing the U.S. Men’s Track and Field Olympic team by only four seconds.
