A local park is getting a million dollar makeover.
Meadow Glens Park near 75th street and Wehrli Road will be closed for nearly a year for renovations.
New features will include a restroom facility, benches, picnic center, a family recreation area with bean bag toss equipment, and prairie restoration.
The existing basketball court, parking lot, and soccer and baseball fields will also be updated.
“For me personally, what stands out is the nature-themed play area,” said Project Manager, Mike Pizynski. “There’s going to be a slide that’s built into a hill, climbing boulders, crawl through logs. So it’s not your typical composite play structures that you see in most of our parks.”
The Naperville Park District received a $400,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to help fund part of the upgrades.
Park district officials look forward to hosting a special re-opening of Meadow Glens Park in the spring.
