There are about 100 days left until the 2nd annual Edward Hospital Marathon and Half Marathon but still plenty of spots available.
Race directors say registration is at about 60%, or more than 4,000, with a race capacity of 6,600.
this year, the start and finish will be at Naperville Central High school, rather than at North Central College and directors expect faster times on this course.
The Naperville Marathon kicks off at 7am on Sunday, November 9th and NCTV17 will once again have live coverage.
Training in Full Swing
Many participants have started running together on the weekends as part of training led by staff at Naperville Running Company in partnership with Nike.
The group meets every Saturday from mid July up until race week in november at Freidenhagen Park to gradually increase their mileage and get used to a particular pace.
Runners include those for the Naperville Half and Full Marathons and those in the upcoming Chicago marathon.
“I’m just trying to get healthier and lose weight and I’ve lost so far 62 pounds and just got off my blood pressure medication and just trying to get healthier and this is a great way to do it,” said Noreen Stauffer who’s running the Naperville Half Marathon.
“I hope I can finish it,” said Ramesh Rangasham, regarding the Chicago Marathon. “That’s the main goal but also the group running, it motivates me so that I can get up, so that I have a commitment.”
While registration for the Saturday morning training sessions has filled, those running the marathons can just show up for three mile and five mile runs every Tuesday nights at Naperville Running Company’s downtown store.
