New this year, Naperville marathon participants running on behalf of a charity got first dibs on registration slots.
More than 150 runners signed up in the first four days of the inaugural charity week.
Also after four days, four of the 26 charities were more than half way to selling out and eight more were at the 25% mark.
“Just for fun we did a snapshot at the 26.2 hour mark into charity week and we were at the 15% by that point. The charities really beat the drum and told the people who ran with them before to come back. I think the charity runners had such a great time last year,” said Craig Bixler, Charity Director for the Edward Hospital Naperville Marathon.
In addition to registration first dibs, many charities paid part or all of their runner’s race fees. The full marathon costs $115 and the half is $85.
Marathon registration opens to the general public at 6am on March 8th.
