The New Year has many people thinking about how to make a change or fresh start.
NCTV17’s crew took to the streets to see what local residents resolved to do in 2012 and how they plan to see it through to 2013.
Naperville resident Toni Spaulding says her resolution is “just spending more time with my family, making sure to think about things that are most important in life and don’t get caught up in the mess.”
“I play basketball at Naperville Central High School, and my New Year’s resolution – I was thinking about the team, I wanted to win the DVC, the DuPage Valley Conference and go deep into the play-offs,” said David Haywood, also of Naperville.
Elaine Wagner, resident of Warrenville says she’s “trying to get back into the gym and everything that we say every year.”
Nick Ryan of Naperville wants “to gain some weight, because I play baseball and I want to get bigger.”
“I didn’t make any New Year’s resolutions because I typically don’t do that,” admits Yorkville resident, Kim Mosinski. “I just try to be a good person every year, keep happiness in my life, love my family, things like that. ”
Another Naperville resident Bryant Williams says, “my New Year’s resolution is actually to stop smoking.” He has noticed “so far so good.” Williams also says, “I guess the best way to put it is to quit the other behaviors that would want me to smoke.”
According to USA.GOV, common New Years resolutions include losing weight, getting out of debt, and eating healthier.
