The Naperville Chamber Ambassadors recently teamed up with Giving DuPage for national Make a Difference Day.
Residents could drive through the Whole Foods Market parking lot with donations for six local not-for-profits, including Goodwill, Loaves & Fishes, and Teen Parent Connection. Volunteers stuffed items into trucks for each of the organizations, from food, to clothing, to baby supplies.
“It makes it really nice and convenient, kind of like a one-stop shop,” said Shellie Champion, a Chamber Ambassador with Aramark Uniform Services. “Whether it’s computers, clothing, or food, any of those items we can take here.”
“They’re going into their pantries or maybe doing some independent shopping and collecting things that other people can use that maybe they just have an abundance of,” said Kathy Blair, Executive Director of Giving DuPage
Donators could also bring their old electronics to the event for the nonprofit Scarce to recycle. This was the first year the chamber participated and event organizers are already looking ahead towards next year.
