City staff is looking to build a bus depot. Residents expressed interest in a depot during the 2009 Fifth Avenue study.
“The purpose of bus depot feasibility study is to reduce bus queues in residential streets in the vicinity of the train station,” said Rory Fancler, Project Manager for the City of Naperville transportation team.
A bus depot would also reduce conflicts between busses, vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles. The city’s transportation team has identified four possible areas all near the downtown train station.
They recently held an open house to get public opinions. Then staff will select the preferred location and make a recommendation to the transportation advisory board.
They’ll continue gathering input until December 2nd. To learn more about the study, visit the city’s website, www.naperville.il.us.
