The BP gas station at Ogden and Washington Streets sold a Mega Millions ticket that had each of the first five numbers correct in the June 15 drawing. The ticket holder still hasn’t come forward, but is due $250,000 for picking the right numbers.
As a part of a new Illinois law, Illinois Lottery winners could have outstanding debts like water bills, parking tickets or even community college tuition deducted from their lottery winnings.
More than 40 government units including Chicago, Aurora and the College of DuPage have enrolled in the program statewide, which can also take money out of state tax returns and Illinois payroll checks.
The city of Naperville is not registered for the program right now, but is exploring the possibility of enrollment.
