Local Homecoming for Two Marines

Jake Tannenbaum and Richard Boschsero may not be brothers by birth but their commitment to serving our country is what’s created a brotherhood just as true.

Jake’s lived in Naperville his entire life, while Josh is from San Antonio, Texas. The two met when Josh joined Jake’s troop in Afghanistan.

“Having that guy to lean on helps a lot, especially whenever you need someone watching your back out there, outside the wire,” said Boschsero, a Lance Corporal in the Marines.

Family, friends, and veterans recently welcomed home the Marines. Operation Welcome You Home is a not-for-profit that organizes homecomings for our troops in recognition of their service.

“It’s like an upper and that’s why I’m out there and I’m going to keep doing it and keep doing it to my fullest,” said Tannenbaum, a Corporal in the Marines.

During their celebration, the Marines modestly acknowledged the thousands of other men and women who have risked their lives fighting overseas.

“The real heroes are the men that never got to have one of these homecomings because they never returned home to their families,” said Tannenbaum.

As for Jake and Josh, they’ll enjoy their time at home until they return to base on October 16th.
