A local bank is cashing in on a new location.
At the latest Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, First Community Bank petitioned for property on Washington and Gartner Road. The bank wants to move to a vacant suite there from their current site on fort hill drive. The proposal also includes creating a drive-through facility. Doing so would reduce some of the nearby landscaping. Bank staff also want to renovate the building’s façade and add a drive-up teller window and atm.
Despite concerns about traffic jams due to their proposed drive-through lanes, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend the bank’s proposal.
“It’s very business from a traffic standpoint seven days a week,” said commissioner Robert Williams. “This will not certainly alleviate any of that but I don’t think it’s something that can’t be handled.”
First community bank’s proposal will go before the city council for final approval.
