One of Naperville’s oldest schools has reached a major milestone.
Lincoln Junior High School is celebrating its 50th anniversary and many of the staff recalled how it has grown over the years.
“It’s changed over the years, but it’s always kept its family tradition throughout the entire 22 years I’ve been here. I’ve seen additions put on this school, not just faculty but the building itself has changed over the years, “ said David Puk, a 22-year science teacher at Lincoln Junior High School.
“The people that work at Lincoln always have had great Lincoln Lancer pride and have really enjoyed being with kids. It’s been a good staff to work with over these years, that’s what I’ve found,“ said Jay Pape, a 30-year special education teacher at Lincoln Junior High School.
To celebrate the landmark anniversary, the students have been reliving a different decade every day.
“We’re gonna have raffles, it’s kind of like a pizza party for a celebration of the 50 years here,“ said Puk.
“The school itself has seen a lot of great kids go through, seen a lot of great kids become great adults,“ said Pape.
Lincoln has a long history of excellence and has graduated some notable names.
Super Bowl winning coach Sean Payton, WNBA superstar Candace Parker, actor Davis Eigenberg, and current NFL tight end Owen Daniels all had their start at Lincoln.
