Autism affects one in every 88 children and Naperville is showing their support this April during National Autism Awareness Month.
Beginning April 1st, the city’s Millenium Carillon will glow blue to help raise awareness.
Traditionally autism awareness is represented through a puzzle piece symbol with colors red, green, yellow, and blue.
A single blue puzzle piece represents Autism Speaks, the world’s largest autism advocacy organization for research, and also the sponsor of the “Light it Up Blue” program that has buildings and monuments all over the world lit blue for the cause.
Starting this spring, the Naperville Park District will light the Carillon different colors representing special events, holidays, and causes.
The Carillon will be lit blue until April 14th. Next it will be lit green for Earth Week through the 22nd.
