Kate Schultz has fond memories of her birthdays growing up, which her parents went to great lengths to make special, but she realized that many parents can’t afford even the simplest of celebratory goods for their own children.
Her solution? “Let Them Eat Cake,” a fundraiser geared to raise money for fully stocked birthday bags to be donated at loaves and fishes community services.
“Kids should have the chance to celebrate their special day with their friends and family and this is a way, let them eat cake, to give back and make it possible for parents to do that for their children,” said Schultz.
The bags come complete with plates, cups, spoons, forks, streamers, party favors, and of course, cake and frosting.
Kate began the project back in 2012, modeling it after one her friend had done in Minnesota. This year, she was able to provide 106 complete birthday kits to the cause.
