Organizations all around the city are pitching in to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Meson Sabika pledged to donate 100% of their proceeds from an entire day to the American Red Cross to assist the relief efforts.
“The credit really goes to our guests,” said Meson Sabika owner, Hossein Jamali. “On a typical Tuesday, we can’t do 500 reservations. Without them, we would probably do 50 covers. So I’m extremely thankful to all the guests for participating.”
The Rotary Club of Naperville will match the restaurant’s donation up to $5,000.
Truth Lutheran Church on Washington St. also raised money by holding a joint garage and bake sale. Church members personally donated all the items to be sold to help those in need.
“We heard on the news about [Hurricane Sandy,] we saw the pictures and thought we should do something for them,” said Truth Lutheran Church member, Sue Wan. “It’s not much we can do but at least we can try to do something for them.”
Other Naperville organizations contributing to relief efforts include Community Christian Church and OfficeMax.
