After more than 17 years, a member of the North Central College administration is saying goodbye to the cardinal family and becoming a mustang.
North Central College’s Vice President for Enrollment Management, Athletics and Student Affairs, Laurie Hamen, is leaving the institution to become the ninth president at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
“North Central is made up of the most fantastic people,” said Hamen. “I am relatively sure I’ll never find a place that has the caliber of people across the board, students, faculty, staff, trustees, other administrators, I love the people here.”
Hamen’s been with North Central since 1996 and a vice president since 1999.
Over the years she’s built a number of memories, some of her favorites include football games and seeing students around campus.
“They all revolve around students and their accomplishments. That’s really what it’s all about being a college administrator,” she said.
Hamen will start her new position at the catholic based four-year liberal arts school in early 2014.
North Central is in talks of what to do with Hamen’s position.
