Hundreds attended the 14th annual KidsMatter Volunteer Fair at the Naperville Municipal Center.
“The purpose of the volunteer fair is truly just to ignite in kids that spirit of giving back, you can definitely fulfill service hours, but most importantly, young people have the opportunity to serve at a vast variety of not-for-profits, they will gain wonderful mentors at these organizations, they’ll learn about what it truly means to give back and make a difference in other people’s lives,” said Executive Director of KidsMatter, IdaLynn Wenhold.
35 different not-for-profits were on hand, talking about their volunteer needs and opportunities, giving students in middle school, high school, college and even families the chance to find an organization they could be passionate about.
“I love the energy of the young people here, excited to plug into the community, to figure out ways they can give back and I know I feel better about our future whenever you meet young people who are energized and passionate about doing that,” said District Director for the Three Fires Council, Boy Scouts of American, Wes Weems.
KidsMatter also hosts a job fair every spring.
