Thanks to their children’s book character election, kids now have a chance to have their say in the leaders of fairy-tale world.
Each of the three Anderson’s Bookshop locations have a character candidate: the La Grange location’s is Rosie Ravere, Downers Grove is Love Monster and Naperville’s is Bad Kitty.
Kids can vote for their favorite of those candidates, or the independent runner, President Squid, by purchasing a book or by paper ballot.
“Going to your place to actually vote, we’re going to give them the sticker so they feel like they’re part of the process with their parents or guardians, so just getting them excited about what it means to be an American and how that process all works,” said Beth Thrall, Children’s Manager at Anderson’s Bookshop Naperville.
Anderson’s is also planning debates and campaign rallies with the possibility of the authors getting in on the fun.
Voting will take place until November 1 , when the winning candidate is announced.
Naperville News 17’s Alyssa Bochenek reports.
