A Hollywood celebrity is helping feed homeless pets this holiday season.
Comedian Ellen DeGeneres, Co-owner of Halo, Purely for Pets, and 16 year old Mimi Ausland, founder of freekibble.com, teamed up for their second annual holiday kibble drop, delivering 500,000 meals to shelter pets across the country and one of their stops is right here in Naperville.
A truck full of Halo food recently pulled into the Pet Supplies Plus parking lot. From there the food goes to eight Chicago area shelters, including the Naperville Area Humane Society.
“We are very excited to be getting 2,000 pounds of food today, “ said Angie Wood, Executive Director for the Naperville Area Humane Society. “For us, that equates to about 1,500 pounds of dog food and 500 pounds of cat food, and that’s huge for us.”
This year, the Kibble Drop Truck will make 14 stops, donating to 69 shelters and rescues across the country.
