Earlier in the week a group of students left the classroom for a history lesson from those who lived it.
Eighth graders at Kennedy Junior High spent a day at the Judd Kendall VFW Post and had a chance to talk with 10 veterans from different wars.
Kennedy students have partnered with the VFW since 1989. They spend the day before Veterands Day talking with military men and women.
They then head to Veterans Park off Gartner Road for a celebration, where they place a wreath and honor vets with a banner.
For nearly the last decade the students also go to the VFW three times a year to help clean up the grounds
