Dupage County has reached a settlement with Irshad Learning Center over their lawsuit to move into a new location in Naperville, ending a three year dispute.
The county has agreed to pay $445,000 to the center for legal costs and expenses associated with maintaining the property.
This comes after a June 11th meeting where board members voted to table the issue because they didn’t want to be forced to vote one way or the other.
Irshad sued the county after its 2010 vote to deny its special use permit to turn a house, that used to be a school, into their education center claiming the vote was a violation of the first and 14th amendment rights.
Federal Judge Rebecca Pallymeyer ruled March 29th that the board had improperly denied the group’s permit.
The Irshad Learning Center is now free to move into their new location.
