At the latest city council meeting, Mayor George Pradel introduced two new positions for the city.
Krishna Bansal and Bill Liu are taking on the roles as Chairmen of Indian and Chinese Community Outreach.
Since Indian and Chinese residents make up about 12% of Naperville’s population, the city created the positions to continue to embrace and foster the relationships in those communities.
“My effort for the community outreach would be educational, culture and business,” said Liu. “That’s the way I hope I can communicate to the Chinese community and connect the city with the Chinese community, make Naperville a much more interesting and better place to live.”
Naperville was the first city in Illinois to have a version of their website in Chinese and hopes to add more languages in the future.
