Lace up those skates, some of the ice rinks are finally open
Warmer than usual temps have kept the local rinks ice-free for most of the winter, but this latest arctic blast meant that it was finally cold enough to freeze over some of the local rinks, which require 72 hours of 15 degree or below temps to become hard.
The Park District has six to choose from: Centennial Park, Commissioners Park, and Nike Sports Complex, which are lit and open until 10pm. And Meadow Glens, Gartner Park, and Rotary Hill which have no lights, and close at dusk.
To find out the status of ice skating areas, check the Park District’s website.
