North Central College is helping express the cultural diversity of Naperville in an artistic way.
A new art exhibit in Wentz Hall displays the works of artists with unique perspectives on what it means to be an American.
The artists behind the work are all of those who were either born in, or have strong connections to other countries, but now live in America.
Their work reflects their time as an American citizen, from things that they’ve struggled with in the past or challenges they continue to face today.
The artwork covers a variety of mediums. Sculptures, drawings, interactive pieces and even painted skulls are all crafted to express different ideas and viewpoints on American identity.
“I think this exhibit is important to have here because, there is quite a bit of diversity in Naperville so I think it’s good to bring that diversity back out and remind everyone that we all originally came from somewhere else,” said Nickole Lanham, Gallery Director at North Central College.
The exhibit will be on display through December 11 and open seven days a week.
