Hunger Action Month is designed to raise awareness of that statistic by inviting everyone to join together in the fight against hunger.
Loaves and Fishes Community Services has several events planned throughout September to support the cause. These include taking a pledge to end hunger, and learning how avoid food waste in addition to many others.
“You can hold a food drive, donate to loaves and fishes, and we would hope that everybody at least visits our website to find out about food insecurity in our community ,” said Jane Macdonald, Associate Director of Community Health with Loaves and Fishes Community Services.
An easy way to help out, simply post an “Orange Power” photo on Facebook on September 8th for “Go Orange Day” and tag Loaves and Fishes. They’ll receive a five dollar donation for each one!
The local Meijer store on Route 59 will also donate $30 for every ten dollars donated from the public.
