The Last Fling is always a town favorite, the Jaycees provide fun for the whole family by closing down Jackson Avenue over Labor Day weekend before the end of summer.
For a great time for kids of all ages check out family fun land at Naper Settlement.
“There are a lot of fun things going on there from bouncy houses, cold water creatures, you can play with reptiles and also Dove Cameron from Disney Channel’s Liv and Maddie will be here for a meet and greet as well,” said Member of the Jaycees, Danielle Tufano.
There are also plenty of rides and games for the young at heart. To make sure you catch it all, check out the mega ticket, a pass to get you on all the rides all weekend for a one time fee.
“Before the actual festival mega passes are $49.99 and at the gate they will be $69.99,” said Tufano.
Just like last year patrons will not be able to purchase alcohol using cash, instead you’ll have to buy designated beverage tickets.
“There will be beverage tickets available at each location beverages will be sold, so on the main stage hill there will be beverage tickets available there as well as over at the entertainment stage where beverages are available too,” said Chad Pedigo, Executive Director of the Last Fling. “Each ticket has a value of $1 and they can be redeemed for alcoholic or soft beverages all weekend long.”
Parking is always free for the Last Fling, as well as access to the park, but if you don’t want to deal with downtown traffic try the Fling’s satellite parking.
“If you’re looking to use the shuttles you can go to All Saints academy’s parking lot, and take the short shuttle bus ride over here, same thing for North Central College down near their Merner Fieldhouse by the football stadium and then also by the Burlington Northern train station where the Metra pick-up is off Washington Avenue and Fifth Avenue,” said Pedigo
Plus you can catch top-notch entertainment over the four day festival.
“Friday night we have ARRA at 8pm hitting the main stage that’s a $10 ticket to get in, Saturday night OAR, for $20 and that’s at 8pm as well, Sunday we have two headliners Vertical Horizon and Smash Mouth that’ll get you in for $15.
The Fling is a great way to enjoy yourself while giving back, all proceeds goes to the Jaycees, a local organization made up of young leaders focused on philanthropy. The group then distributes money raised to local non profits, enjoy the end of summer by doing good.
