Movie goers had the chance to rub elbows, and paws, with the stars of a locally-shot film.
The movie “I Heart Shakey” debuted at Hollywood Palms Cinema.
Most of the full feature, 3-D film takes place at Hotel Arista and there was even a scene at Saints Peter and Paul school.
DuPage PADS hosted the red carpet event, which allowed fans to take pictures with the stars of the movie before the screening.
The family friendly film centers around a 35-year-old widower, his daughter, and their dog Shakey.
“This film is about loyalty. So coming home, being loyal to my family and friends. Trying to build a community here was really an important part of it,” said director Kevin Cooper. Being a Wheaton resident, Cooper is familiar with the Naperville area.
“I thought it was pretty cool because I knew all of the locations that they were talking about. I thought it was really cool,” said Hinsdale resident Miranda.
“It was kind of weird when I saw myself in it because it was my first movie,” said Naperville resident Courtney Arellano. Arellano appeared as an extra in the film.
