City council approved a temporary change to liquor licenses for a few local establishments. Councilmen voted 8 to 1 to eliminate the food requirement and serve alcohol only for Thanksgiving and Christmas days.
Owners of these bars and restaurants said it’s not worth having to pay chefs and wait staff in order to keep their doors open on holidays when people are already full from a big dinner.
Councilman Wehrli says the measure is an example of removing regulation to give small business owners a break.
